Number of inhabitants by 31.12. 2000: 2640. On 1 January 1980 Palkovice and Myslík, being neighbouring villages, merged into one village. Palkovice is situated in the North-Moravia region and borders on the district centre - Frýdek Místek. The first written trace of Palkovice dated back to 1437. The first trace of Myslík dated back to as late as1564. Both villages belonged to the Hukvaldy castle and were included in the Episcopate of Olomouc. By 1 January 1996, the population of Palkovice (including Myslík) was 2,495 people.
