Translated from municipal
web site:
"Green represents the fertility and crops on the arable
lands, which are significantly expanding.
White means the peace we desire so much.
Red represents the blood shed by the martyres of the banana
plantations.
Yellow means the resources provided by the regional crops."
The peasants working in the banana plantations owned by United
Fruit Co. revolted in 1928 because of their low income and huge
load of work.
