Translated from municipal web site:
"The flag was designed in 1985 by Luis Guillermo Correa Rios, whose patriotic spirit was awarded with the title of "adoptive son" of the municipality.
The flag is made of two stripes of equal height; the upper stripe is green, representing the flora embellishing the natural lanscape of the municipality, with a rising sun in the base; the lower stripe is yellow, representing the resources of our soil."
