Translated from municipal
web site:
"White represents peace and harmony in our municipality.
Yellow represents the agricultural and cattle resources of our
communities.
Green represents the abundant vegetation of our capital and its
'corregimientos'.
The tree is a 'ceiba', a.k.a 'bonga'."
Genus Ceiba (Family Malvaceae) includes 10-20 species,
the most famous of them being Ceiba pentandra (L.)
Gaertn. (kapok) and C. speciosa (A. St. -Hil., A. Juss.
& Cambess.) Ravenna (floss silk tree).
