On the 1st of January 2001, the 3 fomer communes of Biel, Ritzingen and Selkingen have merged to form the new commune of Grafschaft. The new flag is based on the flag of Biel, three stars have been added to symbolize the 3 former communes merged into the new entity.

Gules, issuant from a Base Vert faillis a Church Argent doored windowed and roofed Sable in chief dexter a Cross patee of the third.
