In 2001, Roger Cormier proposed to merge the villages of the Acadian peninsula into a new city called Beausoleil, after the Acadian hero Beausoleil Broussard. The new city would be divided into the three arrondissements of Caraquet, Shippagan-les-Iles and Tracadie-Sheila. The current municipalities of Lameque, Shippagan, Tracadie-Sheila and Caraquet would become satellite municipalities.

Roger Cormier designed a very nice flag proposal for the proposed municipality. The flag is 3:4, dark blue with a yellow disk of diameter the half of the flag length and three thin horizontal yellow stripes in the base of the flag.

The yellow disk is evidently canting for the name of the proposed municipality, Beausoleil meaning Beautiful Sun in French. I guess that the three yellow stripes stand for the three proposed arrondissements.

Roger F. Cormier wants to confirm that the 3 yellow stripes really do stand for the three proposed 'arrondissements'.
