Malaspina University-College is located in Nanaimo, British Columbia. The very striking and colorful design can be seen at The Public Register of Arms, Flags and Badges of Canada

The gold pictured by the Canadian Heraldic Authority is yellow on the real flag.

Founded as Malaspina College in 1969, status of university college in 1989.

Main campus in Nanaimo, other campuses: Cowichan Campus (Duncan), Parksville-Qualicum Centre (Parksville BC), and Powell River Campus (Powell River BC).

Powell River is on the Sunshine Coast (on the mainland), the other locations are in the Mid-Island (Vancouver Island) region.

The school is named for Alexandro Malaspina, who explored the Northwest Coast of North America from Mexico to Alaska in the late 18th Century for Spain (he was Italian by birth, and various spellings are given for his first name).
