The parish municipality of Saint-Alexis-des-Monts (3,103 inhabitants in 2006 - Aleximontois/oises; 1,153.85 sq. km) is part of the MRC of Maskinongé, administrative region of Mauricie. The municipality was incorporated in 1877; on 21 April 1984, the municipality of Belleau, incorporated in 1973, was included into Saint-Alexis-des-Monts. On 9 December 1995, Saint-Alexis-des-Monts was even increased by the inclusion of the non-incorporated territories of Lac-Marcotte and Lac-au-Sorcier. The place is mostly known for the Speckled Trout Festival, attracting every year 35,000 visitors, therefore the nickname of "Capital of the Speckled Trout" ("Capitale de la Truite Mouchetée") given to the village.1

On 7 August 2007, Jean-Paul Plante reports in "L'Echo de Maskinongé" that the soldier Yannick Roch, about to leave for Afghanistan, was granted a municipal flag by Mayor Jean-Paul Diamond. On the third photography attached to the report, the municipal flag can be seen as a white flag with the emblem of the municipality.2

The emblem of Saint-Alexis-des-Monts, featuring of course the speckled trout, is shown on the municipal website near the map of the municipality. The motto on the scroll "PROGRES ET HARMONIE" reads "Progress and Harmony".3
