The town of Sundre, Alberta (population: 2,518) is situated 130 km NW
of Calgary in the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Depicted
on this colorful municipal flag are foothills, snow-capped mountain
range, wheat, wagon wheel and lodgepole pine trees. The name of the
town is spelled out in the shape of a bison. Sundre takes its name
from a town in Norway, the original home of Nels T. Hagen, the town's
first postmaster, who arrived in 1906.
