In my notes and gatherings, this is the flag of Paulínia rather than Paulínea, and I find the same coat of arms on the municipal website of Paulínia. Does the state of Sao Paulo have one of each? André, can you confirm for sure which it is?
Joseph McMillan, 17 March 2003

Paulínia (according to the municipal website) or Paulínea (according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, from which I took some information) are the same municipality. Paulínea (or Paulínia) is a city in the metropolitan area of Campinas and is the location of the the biggest petroleum refinary of Brazil, and I believe of South America. The two names are the same because the "E" near the end of the name in Portuguese has the same sound of "I" when it is not stressed.
