The flag shows a wide white Scandinavian-type cross separating a green fly
and a yellow hoist with the town emblem in the intersection. This emblem shows a light blue
eight-toothed cogwheel between a branch of wheat and
soy (doesn't look like it to me!) above a red stylized scroll reading "1951 SÃO MIGUEL
DO IGUAÇU 1961." The referred page explains the elements of the flag and
emblem as:
- White cross: Faith, peace, order, and integrity
- Green: Lush forest, hope and freedom
- Yellow: Richness of the earth, maturity, nobility
- Blue cogwheel: Union and progress, based on justice and loyalty
- Wheat and soy: Agricultural wealth
- Red scroll: Stamina, courage, boldness of the first landclaimers
- 1951: The founding date of Vila Gaúcha [This could be a former toponym or
simply taken to mean "town of Paraná"--Trans.]
- 1961: Political-administrative emancipation
