Description

Avalon Sailing Club (ASC), founded in 1938 by J.G. Vaughan, is a family oriented sailing club, situated at Clareville, on Pittwater, part of Sydney's Northern Beaches area, New South Wales.

The club has two burgees on sale, for racing and cruising, respectively:

  • the racing burgee is triangular, vertically divided blue-yellow-blue with a blue A in the middle of the yellow stripe.
  • the cruising burgee is rectangular, vertically divided blue-yellow-blue (c. 2:1:3) with a blue A (much smaller than on the racing burgee) in the yellow strip.
Quoting the online shop: "Whether you cruise or race we have the burgee for you and, if you do neither, then how about one for the office wall or the den."

Note: The front page of the ASC website shows a triangular burgee, blue with a wide yellow stripe along the hoist, charged with a blue A. This seems to be a truncated version of the real burgee - quite misleading!
